The beautiful Shark Bar and Kitchen, located in coastal Wrightsville Beach, NC, is one of Old Wood’s favorite projects. We were involved in the design process from beginning to end. Old Wood had the pleasure of working with the restaurant’s owners and design team to create a beautifully curated space using 100% sustainable materials. Our design-conscious products with a sustainable backstory perfectly compliment the wonderful food and amazing staff.
The restaurant features our sustainably harvested Fire Reclaimed Blue Stain Ponderosa Pine Flooring throughout, which was wire-brushed for added durability in this high-traffic commercial environment. Our straight-line ripped (SLR) pine, always a favorite for easy and affordable walls and ceilings, was applied throughout the upstairs and stained in our lovely Merkin Gray Color. The unique Hopi 3D wall panels were designed in-house by Old Wood, and were the perfect architectural feature used under the bar. We were honored to produce all the dining tables for this fine restaurant, all of which were made using Blue Stain Pine end grain, wrapped in an oxidized steel frame that was highlighted using original Mexican clavos. Finally, the downstairs bar features one of our favorite features-a live-edge, 27” wide bar top made out of a single, gorgeous old growth Ponderosa Pine tree that was salvaged from one of New Mexico’s biggest forest fires.
