Old Wood recently had the opportunity and honor of working on the remodel of one of Santa Fe’s most historic and beautiful hotels. The La Fonda holds so much history for both the city of Santa Fe, and the Old family personally. So when we were approached by Barbara Felix Architecture + Design about doing the flooring for the newly remodeled Santa Fe Room, we jumped at the opportunity. Ultimately, the architects chose a beautiful walnut, which was to be installed in a herringbone pattern, along with walnut steps with white oak nosing for contrast. Herringbone flooring, while visually stunning, is a difficult and labor intensive floor to install. Old Wood’s installer, Adrian Mariscol, and his team did a fantastic job of managing the installation and finishing of the flooring and stairs. We hope that if you ever visit this historic hotel in the heart of downtown Santa Fe, that you will take a look at the Santa Fe Room and let us know what you think!
